In my search of a dog-friendly boutique hotel to complement Charlotte’s first visit to the historic city of Bath, I stumbled upon the whimsical No. 15 by Guesthouse Hotels; a re-imagined Georgian townhouse overlooking Great Pulteney Street, a grand boulevard which dates back to the 18th Century, designed as a showcase of Georgian splendour and has long been celebrated for its historical charm. Great Pulteney Street has strong ties to the literary world, particularly the famed Jane Austen, an ideal setting for her tales of romance and social intrigue, as well as being a frequent filming location for period dramas, including Netflix’s Bridgerton.

The Room
There are 36 bedrooms in total, throughout their main townhouse buildings and separate Coach House, each unique in their own way, with playful British quality and authentic Georgian touches. We stayed in one of their beautiful Pulteney Rooms, located in the prized position at the front of the townhouse on the first floor. Upon entering our room, we were greeted by rays of glorious sunshine which flooded through the vast sash windows, eyes drawn towards the grand chandelier suspended elegantly from the high ceilings, serenaded softly by the tunes of Johann Sebastian Bach and Mozart, amongst others playing from a vintage style Roberts radio. A super-king four-poster bed occupied one end of the room, complete with a plush Hypnos Lansdowne cashmere mattress dressed in 200-thread-count Egyptian cotton linen. There was a cosy seating area at the other end which faced a flat screen TV as well as a Crosley vinyl player with a selection of records; there was also a larger selection of records to browse in the record library situated on the ground floor. A dollhouse next to the window opened up to reveal a Nespresso machine with a selection of coffees and teas.
A marble-topped washstand with bespoke hand basin add a touch of luxury to the bathrooms, enhanced by framed vintage lace designs on the wall. The combined bathtub and shower was equipped with Wildsmith bathroom amenities, thick white towels hung on the towel rails and bathrobe with slippers within arms reach at the back of the door.
I was also provided with access to their Pantry which was undoubtedly one of the highlights of my stay, stocked daily with complimentary treats; savoury snacks, homemade cakes, ice cream, soft drinks, filtered water and fresh fruit.
Charlotte was provided with an Ivy and Duke dogbed, dogbowls, and a welcome package which contained treats, a roll of poo bags, and pink tennis ball which kept her entertained during our stay. The hotel is able to accommodate dogs in any of their rooms, apart from the Small Guest Rooms, with an additional fee of £25 per night per dog.

The Food
Dogs are very welcome in The Bar for breakfast and throughout the afternoon and evening where guests can enjoy innovative cocktails and delicious seasonal plates. We were sat in a cosy corner by the window, the glass topped tables filled with a trove of trinkets and vintage jewellery. I started with a decadent Salted Caramel Espresso Martini, before tucking into a selection of small plates, including the Bath Chaps with chorizo jam served on fried brioche, and the flavourful harissa cauliflower with hummus and pomegranate.
The next morning, I returned to The Bar to enjoy a hearty breakfast at our favourite corner; smoked salmon and truffled scrambled eggs served with toasted sourdough, freshly baked pastries, and a sweet waffle topped with raspberry, mascarpone and honey.
Charlotte was as always the perfect dining companion, dressed for the occasion and posed like a natural for the paparazzi.

Getting There
There is a direct train from Paddington to Bath Spa station which takes just over an hour (or an hour and eighteen minutes to be exact). The hotel is a 5 minute taxi ride from the station, or a leisurely 15 minute walk – the hotel also offers a station luggage pick-up service in their cargo bike free of charge for guests who wish to head off exploring first prior to checking in.
A word of thanks to No. 15 Bath by Guesthouse for hosting us, and to all the friendly staff who made us feel welcomed during our stay. We look forward to visiting again soon, and hopefully visit the other Guesthouse properties in the near future.
