No.15 by GuestHouse Bath Review: A Dog-Friendly Boutique Hotel on Great Pulteney Street

Last Updated on April 30, 2026 by dancinginhighheelsft

In search of a dog-friendly boutique hotel for Charlotte’s first visit to Bath, I came across No.15 by GuestHouse Bath — a characterful stay set across three Grade I listed Georgian townhouses overlooking Great Pulteney Street.

Often regarded as one of the most beautiful streets in Bath, Great Pulteney Street dates back to the late 18th century and remains a striking example of Georgian architecture. The city itself is closely associated with Jane Austen, whose time in Bath helped shape novels such as Persuasion and Northanger Abbey, while its honey-toned streets have more recently provided a backdrop for period productions including Bridgerton.

From the outside, the hotel retains all the symmetry and elegance of its Georgian heritage; inside, however, it reveals a far more playful and imaginative personality.

The Room

The hotel offers 36 individually designed rooms, each with its own distinct character. Interiors lean into a whimsical, design-led aesthetic, creating a contrast with the more formal façade.

We stayed in a Pulteney Room, positioned at the front of the townhouse on the first floor. Natural light poured through tall sash windows, illuminating high ceilings, a statement chandelier, and thoughtful design details throughout. Classical music from a vintage Roberts radio added to the atmosphere on arrival — a small but memorable touch.

A super-king four-poster bed anchored the room, dressed in crisp Egyptian cotton linen, while a cosy seating area and curated décor added warmth. A Crosley record player with a selection of vinyls — and more available to borrow — reinforced the hotel’s playful approach.

Even the minibar setup felt considered: hidden within a dollhouse-style cabinet, revealing a Nespresso machine and a selection of teas and coffees.

The bathroom continued the same attention to detail, with a marble-topped washstand, Wildsmith amenities, plush towels, and robes — balancing boutique charm with a sense of quiet luxury.

One of the most memorable elements of the stay was access to The Pantry — a complimentary help-yourself space stocked daily with homemade cakes, savoury snacks, soft drinks, ice cream, and fresh fruit.

It’s a simple concept, but one that elevates the experience significantly, adding a sense of generosity and informality that feels genuinely welcoming rather than staged.

For those travelling with pets, No.15 by GuestHouse Bath is refreshingly accommodating. Dogs are welcome in most room categories (excluding smaller rooms), with a fee of £25 per night per dog (at the time of writing).

Charlotte was provided with an Ivy & Duke dog bed, bowls, treats, and toys — thoughtful touches that made her feel as considered as any human guest.

Dogs are also welcome in The Bar, allowing for a relaxed and inclusive experience throughout the stay.

The Food

The Bar is very much the social heart of the hotel, blending eclectic design with a relaxed, intimate atmosphere. Glass-topped tables filled with vintage trinkets and jewellery add to the sense of character.

We settled into a cosy corner by the window, starting with a Salted Caramel Espresso Martini before moving on to a selection of small plates. Highlights included Bath chaps with chorizo jam on fried brioche, and harissa cauliflower with hummus and pomegranate — both flavourful and well-balanced.

Breakfast the following morning was equally enjoyable, with smoked salmon and truffled scrambled eggs on sourdough, pastries, and a waffle topped with raspberry, mascarpone, and honey.

Getting There

The hotel is well positioned for exploring the city on foot. Bath Spa railway station is around a 15-minute walk away, with direct services to London Paddington in just over an hour.

For added convenience, the hotel offers a complimentary luggage collection service via cargo bike — a thoughtful touch that makes arrival feel seamless and distinctly local.

Overall, No.15 by GuestHouse Bath offers a refreshingly different take on the boutique hotel experience — one that balances heritage architecture with playful design and genuinely thoughtful hospitality.

From the characterful rooms to the ever-stocked Pantry and its dog-friendly approach, it’s a stay that feels personal, creative, and quietly luxurious. For those looking for a boutique hotel in Bath with personality — particularly one that welcomes dogs — this is easily one of the city’s most memorable options.

With thanks to No. 15 by GuestHouse Bath for hosting us.
