Tucked away in the heart of Marylebone, The Marylebone has a settled, lived-in elegance that comes from decades of welcoming guests. The hotel has been part of The Doyle Collection since 1984, while the Irish family-owned group itself dates back to the 1960s. Today, The Doyle Collection has three London properties — The Marylebone, The Bloomsbury and The Kensington — alongside hotels in Dublin, Cork, Bristol and Washington DC.
Having recently stayed at both of those sister London properties, I was looking forward to experiencing The Marylebone for myself — and this time, of course, I was once again accompanied by my little hotel connoisseur, Charlotte.

Lunch at La Terrasse on the Lane
We arrived at The Marylebone around lunchtime and dined at 108 Brasserie, where the seasonal La Terrasse on the Lane had been transformed into a little slice of Provence in the heart of Marylebone.
With its relaxed outdoor setting, it was the perfect place to settle in for a leisurely lunch. We started with two cocktails, the Blush de Provence and Jardin de Coste, before sharing a bottle of Château La Coste Rosé.
To begin, we shared the warmed house bread selection and the brioche lobster sub roll, before moving on to the 108 Seafood Platter.
The platter was generously filled with smoked salmon, hot smoked salmon rillette, tiger prawns, prawn cocktail, dressed white crab meat and peppered mackerel, accompanied by bread and condiments. We were lucky with the weather too, basking in the summer sunshine as we lingered over lunch.
We finished with the warm cherry clafoutis, a classic French dessert that rounded off the meal beautifully.
With cocktails, rosé and a generous seafood platter, it was a wonderfully relaxed way to begin our stay.
Our Luxury Suite at The Marylebone
After lunch, we headed upstairs to our Luxury Suite. One of my favourite features was the corner bay window overlooking Marylebone Lane, which filled the room with natural light and gave us a lovely outlook over the street below. The separate living area provided a comfortable space to sit and relax away from the bedroom.
The suite has a contemporary yet understated aesthetic, with neutral-coloured furnishings and a warm, residential feel. There was also a dining table and dedicated workspace, making it a practical choice for a longer stay as well as an overnight escape.
The marble bathroom was complete with Frédéric Malle toiletries and, whilst the bathtub wasn’t freestanding, it still proved perfect for a relaxing bubble bath in the evening.
Waiting for me on arrival was a handwritten welcome card and bottle of Charles Heidsieck Champagne, accompanied by a beautifully presented trio of cakes and pastries. A welcome bottle of Champagne is undoubtedly one of my favourite hotel amenities, and it was the perfect excuse to pour a glass and settle into the suite. Complimentary tea and coffee also meant I could keep the caffeine flowing throughout the stay.
And, of course, Charlotte received a welcome of her own.
Waiting for her was a dog bed, bowls, towel, spa kit and a cuddle teddy bear to keep her company. I always appreciate when hotels go beyond simply allowing dogs to stay and actually make them feel like guests too, and these thoughtful touches certainly didn’t go unnoticed.
That evening, we enjoyed the luxury of simply staying in. The hotel provides an evening turndown service, and returning to the suite with everything prepared for the night added another lovely touch to the experience.
Breakfast in Our Suite
One of my favourite ways to start the morning at a hotel is with breakfast in the room, particularly when staying in a spacious suite.
The following morning, I ordered in-room breakfast, allowing us to enjoy a slow start without having to leave the comfort of our room. I ordered the Traditional Irish Breakfast, together with a basket of fresh pastries, fruit salad, granola, hot chocolate and orange juice.
A Little More About The Marylebone
Beyond the suite, The Marylebone’s public spaces are also worth exploring. Off the lobby sits the hotel’s cocktail bar, tucked into a series of intimate nooks that give it more the feel of a well-dressed drawing room than a typical hotel bar. It is the kind of place you could easily settle into with a book and a glass of something for an hour.
For those who like to incorporate a little wellness into their hotel stay, guests also have complimentary access to the on-site Third Space Health Club, including its gym, fitness classes and 18-metre swimming pool. The facilities also include a sauna and steam room, making it a useful addition to the stay if you have time to make use of them.
Getting There
The Marylebone is located at 47 Welbeck Street, just off Marylebone Lane, making it easy to reach by public transport.
Bond Street Underground station is around a 10-minute walk away and is served by the Central, Jubilee and Elizabeth lines, while Marylebone station is also within walking distance.
For those arriving by train, Marylebone station offers convenient connections to and from the Chilterns, while the hotel’s central location also makes it straightforward to reach from London’s other major railway stations by Underground or taxi.
Once at the hotel, Marylebone’s shops, restaurants and cafés are all close by, while the West End and Oxford Street are also easily accessible.
Final Thoughts
Our stay at The Marylebone was another lovely experience with The Doyle Collection and offered a slightly different feel to my stays at The Bloomsbury and The Kensington.
Having now stayed at three of The Doyle Collection’s London hotels — The Bloomsbury, The Kensington and now The Marylebone — I love that each has its own character. The Marylebone feels relaxed, elegant and distinctly residential, with the kind of understated luxury that makes you want to linger a little longer.
