Looking for a luxury dog-friendly hotel in London that doesn’t compromise on style? Tucked away on the vibrant South Bank, just moments from the River Thames and some of the capital’s most iconic cultural landmarks, Bankside Hotel blends contemporary design with a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere. As part of Marriott’s Autograph Collection, it embraces the creative spirit of its neighbourhood through curated artwork, residential-inspired interiors and an atmosphere that feels sophisticated yet effortlessly relaxed.
Check-in was friendly and efficient, and Charlotte received just as warm a welcome as I did, immediately setting the tone for a stay where four-legged guests are made to feel just as welcome.

The Room
We stayed in one of the hotel’s Superior Collection rooms, a spacious, light-filled retreat where contemporary interiors are softened by warm textures, bespoke artwork and floor-to-ceiling windows that flood the room with natural light. Shortly after settling in, a lovely surprise arrived at our door: a handwritten welcome card, a box of chocolates and a vibrant fresh fruit platter.
The king-size bed was exceptionally comfortable, while the seating area was a relaxing space to unwind in the evening. A generous desk positioned beside the window also makes the room ideal for anyone combining business with leisure.
Thoughtful in-room amenities included a Nespresso coffee machine and tea-making facilities, complimentary still water, a reusable glass carafe that could be refilled at the filtered water station on each floor, Chromecast TV, remote-controlled blackout blinds, an iron and ironing board, and ample wardrobe space.
The bathroom continued the contemporary aesthetic with a spacious walk-in rain shower, Grown Alchemist toiletries, and plush bathrobes and slippers, creating a calming, spa-like space.
Bankside’s Canine Concierge
Travelling with Charlotte is always a key consideration when choosing a hotel, and Bankside certainly lived up to expectations.
Waiting in our room was a welcome prepared especially for Charlotte, including a comfortable dog bed, food and water bowls with a feeding mat, treats, a towel, complimentary poo bags and a toy. Alongside the in-room amenities, guests can enjoy curated walking routes along the Thames and recommendations for nearby dog-friendly cafés and attractions.
Up to two dogs (each weighing up to 25kg) are welcome per room, with a non-refundable pet fee of £75 per stay, which includes all of the canine amenities.
Dining at Art Yard Bar & Kitchen
Located on the ground floor of the hotel, Art Yard Bar & Kitchen reflects Bankside’s creative personality with contemporary interiors and a menu celebrating seasonal British produce. The atmosphere feels stylish without being overly formal, making it equally appealing for hotel guests and London locals.
We decided to share several dishes from across the menu, beginning with the charred tiger prawns, served with a lemon emulsion and roasted red pepper salsa that added freshness to every bite, alongside a well-seasoned steak tartare. The standout dish for me was the crab ravioli; delicate pasta parcels filled with sweet crab were served in a rich, velvety shellfish bisque.
To finish, we opted for the macerated strawberries with cream cheese and fior di latte ice cream. Light, refreshing and delicately sweet, it provided the perfect ending to the meal.
Charlotte was also welcome to accompany me into Art Yard Bar & Kitchen for dinner, where she was also provided with a water bowl and some dog treats.
Whilst I’m usually tempted to order breakfast in bed, this time I returned to Art Yard Bar & Kitchen to make the most of the breakfast offering.
The continental buffet featured freshly baked pastries, seasonal fruit, artisan breads, cheese and charcuterie, cereals, yoghurt and juices. Although the continental buffet alone offered plenty of choice, there was also a hot food counter serving a traditional English breakfast. It made for a leisurely start to the morning before heading back out to explore London.
Lounge & Terrace
Beyond the restaurant, Bankside Hotel offers several inviting communal spaces designed for guests to linger a little longer. We spent some time in the stylish lounge, an ideal setting for coffee, cocktails or informal meetings throughout the day.
Although the terrace wasn’t in service during our visit, it looked like a wonderful place to enjoy a drink during warmer months, with views towards St Paul’s Cathedral adding to the atmosphere.
Exploring the South Bank
One of Bankside Hotel’s greatest strengths is undoubtedly its location. Situated on the South Bank, many of London’s best-known attractions are within easy walking distance, including Tate Modern, Shakespeare’s Globe, Borough Market, the Millennium Bridge and St Paul’s Cathedral.
For those travelling with a dog, the nearby Thames Path offers scenic riverside walks right on the hotel’s doorstep. Whether you’re visiting for the museums, restaurants or simply a riverside stroll, Bankside Hotel provides an excellent base from which to explore.
Getting There
Southwark Underground station is around a four to six-minute walk from the hotel, while Blackfriars station can be reached with a leisurely stroll across Blackfriars Bridge. Waterloo and London Bridge are also within comfortable walking distance, making Bankside Hotel easy to reach whether you’re arriving by train or travelling across London.
Whether you’re visiting London for a weekend of sightseeing, a theatre break or simply looking for a stylish base on the South Bank, Bankside Hotel is an excellent choice.
