Work in Central London and looking for some tasty lunch options on the go? – then why not pay a visit to Peabodys. Having started its journey in 1997, serving gourmet coffee and freshly prepared food within hospitals in London, as well as Virgin Active gyms, Peabodys has recently launched their first high street venue at Holborn Viaduct.

We paid a visit during lunch, and ordered a couple of coffees to start with (I went for my usual flat white), made from their freshly-ground organic Fairtrade speciality coffee, a delicate blend of arabica beans from Peru and Honduras. Their single origin speciality coffees are hand roasted in small batches and changes seasonally.
For the non-coffee drinkers, they also offer a variety of organic teas and luxury single origin hot chocolate drinks. Or if you’re looking to top-up on your five-a-day, they have some healthy juices and smoothie options that will be sure to give you the boost that you need.

As the perfect accompaniment to our coffees, we tasted some of their mini pastries – they do normal sized pastries too but I do love a mini selection! They even did mini versions of my favourite pastel de nata. I’ve always been a fan of muffins and really enjoyed their coconut and orange muffin.

Moving on to some of their more substantial lunch selection, I was really drawn towards their array of freshly made pastas. They were all neatly packaged in takeaway containers and all we had to do was select our sauce of choice before they promptly prepared it hot from the kitchen and ready to eat. We tried the beetroot gnocchi with tomato sauce, and one of their specials, the wildboar tortelloni with mushroom sauce, that I would highly recommend. The other two specials with crab and black truffle sounded equally delicious so I’ll definitely be popping in again to get my pasta fix!
I do love a summer salad and really enjoyed their vibrant and tasty Vegan Mezze Salad – a good choice to go for if you’re looking for a lighter option, alongside their many freshly prepare sandwiches.

All their food and drink is responsibly sourced and extensively taste tested – all natural, fresh and healthy, and to top it all off, they make a big effort to keep everything reasonably priced.
Peabodys Coffee Shops have a proud and strong affiliation with the Fairtrade Puro blend that also purchases and protects the South American rainforest through The World Land Trust Charity – you can find out more information on their website.
