Igloos seem to become a trend during the winter season, and so I was excited to check out the pop-up igloos at Inamo Camden, where their external drinking & dining areas have been transformed into a Winter Garden with 3 exclusive pop-up igloos. Decorated with flowers & fairy lights, and equipped with heaters and speakers, the igloos have a mix of individual tables as well as communal style ones which have been furnished with sheepskin rugs – a cute little space to get cosy and feast in style.
I tend to go for white wine on most occasions, but during winter my preferences tend to switch towards red – because nothing chases away winter chills like a big, bold bottle of red!
We began with a selection of Asian tapas dishes which included some chicken & vegetable gyoza, crispy tempura wasabi prawns drizzled with a creamy wasabi sauce, and ‘Bang Bang Cauliflower’ which were deep fried cauliflower florets tossed in a sweet and spicy sauce. Even though I’m not vegetarian, the cauliflower was probably my favourite amongst them.
Next up was a variety of sushi and sashimi dishes. The slices of salmon and mackerel sashimi were succulent and fresh. I enjoyed their signature Dragon Roll sushi, filled with crunchy tempura shrimp, and topped with creamy avocado and a touch of mayo. Their Spicy Tuna Maki was also really good, rolled together with creamy avocado, crunchy cucumber, and piquant pickles, and topped with spicy mayo with a sprinkle of hot shichimi.
We then shared a hearty sizzling plate of tender beef fillet, diced up and cooked in a delicious black pepper & oyster sauce with garlic, red & yellow peppers, and spring onions. The perfect dish to have with some rice to soak up all that sauce.
Last but not least, dessert was apple gyoza, a Japanese take on a British classic – the apple parcels were deep fried in crispy gyoza skins, served with a sweet caramel ice cream, and sprinkled with cinnamon. I think we were originally supposed to be served a Sushi Dessert Platter based on the tasting menu, but we enjoyed the apple gyozas nonetheless.
All located within an enclosed private garden space, this is the ideal spot for private drinking & dining and exclusive private events during the festive season. You can view more information on their tasting menus via this link.
I’m definitely getting more into the festive mood as Christmas draws nearer, hit me up with any other festive recommendations around London!
